Three intakes offered by UK universities & colleges

UK universities and colleges typically offer three main intakes throughout the year, allowing students to choose the one that best fits their schedule and preferences.

September Intake

The September intake is the most popular and widely recognized intake in the UK. It aligns with the academic year and offers a wide range of courses across various disciplines. Many undergraduate and postgraduate programs have a September start date, giving students the opportunity to join a group of peers and engage in a full academic year.

January Intake

The January intake, also known as the winter or spring intake, provides an alternative starting point for international students. It allows students who may have missed the September intake to commence their studies in the middle of the academic year. While the January intake offers a slightly more limited course selection compared to September, it still provides a range of options across various fields.

April/February Intake

Some institutions in the UK offer additional intakes in April or February. These intakes are less common but can provide a great opportunity for students who prefer a non-traditional starting point or have specific circumstances that necessitate a different entry time.

UK Study Visa Eligibility Criteria

You must have an offer letter from a recognized educational institution in the UK. This institution should hold a valid Tier 4 sponsor license.

Once you have received an offer of a place, the educational institution will provide you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). This unique reference number is essential for your study visa application.

You need to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and living expenses while studying in the UK.

To study in the UK, you must be proficient in the English language. You may be required to provide evidence of your language proficiency by taking an approved English language test, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Students from certain countries are required to undergo a tuberculosis (TB) test as part of their visa application.

If you are under 18 years old, you will need to provide additional documentation, such as consent from your parents or legal guardian, to study in the UK.

As a non-European Economic Area (EEA) student, you will need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) as part of your visa application. This allows you to access the National Health Service (NHS) during your stay in the UK.
